Questions about science and policy? Just ask the candidates.

More than 100 prestigious scientists have identified several questions for which they would like to have answers from the presidential candidates. This not a common procedure in our country but it does take place in the US for example. The questions address a diverse panel of items including environment and health, climate change and energy, computational sciences, scientific education and more generally innovation and research. All scientists do not necessarily agree on those issues but they expect that the candidates’ answers will help citizens in understanding their objectives and programs. It should be interesting to compare the different answers (or even the absence of answers). The aim is to put science at the center stage of the campaign. Wishful thinking most probably but we have to start somewhere. Stay tuned…
